Top 10 Moments of 2009

This column is dedicated to the inaugural season of the Sick Nasty Football League, in which I’ll look back at the matchups that pitted Canadian Pwnage (Berthiaume), The Ox (R. Oxendine), The TRONS (T. Oxendine), and Snappin Turtles (Wilson) against one another. This list will begin with the number 10 moment, to the greatest moment in SNFL history. So sit back, grab your favorite blank, a nice cup of tea or hot chocolate, and enjoy the Top 10 Moments of 2009! 


  1. Brother Bowl I: The TRONS and The Ox meet for the first time ever, with The Ox (0-2) beating The TRONS (0-2) for their first victory of the season.

  1. All Good Things Must Come to an End: The Ox (2-3) defeats Canadian Pwnage (5-0), giving them their first loss of the season.

  1. So it Begins: Opening week of the first ever SNFL season, Canadian Pwnage defeats The Ox 122.22-92.62 and Snappin Turtles defeat The TRONS 114.32-76.08. 

  1. Victory at Last: The TRONS (0-4) finally win their first game of the season by beating The Ox (2-2) 116.54-72.90.

  1. Killing Spree: The Ox defeats Canadian Pwnage (10-1), The TRONS (3-9), and Snappin Turtles (7-6) with huge performances by Maurice Jones-Drew and Chris Johnson.

  1. Two is Always Better Than One: Canadian Pwnage wins their first five games, and after one loss, they win 5 more.

  1. Time to Bring Out the Big Guns: In back to back games, the Snappin Turtles defeat The TRONS (1-4) 142.96-68.36 and The Ox (3-3) 145.12-71.32 for the largest margin of victory and the most points ever scored in SNFL history.   

  1. Game of the Week: Canadian Pwnage (7-1) defeats The Ox (3-5) 138.92-132.88 in closet game in SNFL history.

  1. Upset of the Century: The TRONS (4-10) defeat Canadian Pwnage (10-4) 121.48-99.72 in first round of the playoffs.

  1. We are the Champions: The Ox (7-7) defeats The TRONS (4-10) 130.78-122.04, winning first ever SNFL Championship Game.

  1. Awesome season. You forgot to mention that when Ryan beat me in week 6 to give me my only loss of the first 11 weeks, he was playing without a kicker.
